Vision: Youth Center for At-Risk Children

Eligibility

All individuals that are 3-12 years of age and their families are eligible for the program. Children accepted into the program may be wards of the state with the Department of Children and Family Services or referred by school personnel, private agencies and other community resources. Grandparents raising grandchildren are also accepted into the program. All clients must live within Cook or Lake County boundaries.

Intake Criteria & Admission Procedure

Individuals and families who meet the eligibility criteria will be accepted on a one on one-decline basis unless the program is operating at full capacity or unless the balance of the contract funds precludes the addition of more clients. General characteristics of children served at EOROC are underprivileged youths with problematic histories of child abuse & neglect, sexual abuse and hopelessness. These characteristics have affected the child's behavior in:

  1. Children for whom the Department has protective custody, temporary custody or guardianship.

  2. Clients who are between the ages of 3-12, pre-kindergarten through 6th grade. Children who are at risk of educational, social and emotional health needs.

  3. Families whose children exhibit moderate problematic behaviors are not excluded from this contract.

Full capacity is based on the number of hours available and staff availability.
